On 22 August, COM EUFOR Major General László Sticz visited the "Coordination and Response to the Accident - 2024" field exercise held in Nišići Plateau, near Olovo. The exercise was also attended by EU Ambassador and Special Representative Ambassador Johann Sattler.
The main aim of the exercise was to raise public awareness about the European Union support available for civil protection services in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The exercise also presented the opportunity to highlight Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Civil Protection Administration activities and how they can operate within the framework of the European Union’s Civil Protection Mechanism.
The exercise demonstrated the civil-military cooperation with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and various levels of government in response to natural disasters, other emergencies, and mine clearance operations.
The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Civil Protection Administration led the exercise. The Civil Protection Administration was joined by a number of external participants including the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Cantonal Administration of Civil Protection of Sarajevo Canton, the Ilijaš Municipal Civil Protection Service, the Red Cross of the Federation and firefighting brigade who demonstrated a coordinated action that is crucial in case of responding natural or other disasters.
